The Uganda Cranes thrashed the Mambas of Mozambique four-nil at the Mandela National Stadium on Matchday seven of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Vipers SC attacker Allan Okello opened the mark with a screamer from long range in the 48th minute to give Uganda the lead.
Macedonian-based winger Rogers Mato doubled the lead in the 70th minute before completing his brace in the 84th minute.
Romanian-based defender Elio Capradossi sealed off the fourth at stoppage time with a header from Allan Okello’s corner kick.
It is also important to note that Uganda Cranes & Scottish side Hibernian Jordan Obita marked his official home debut for the Uganda Cranes.
Obita partnered with Elio Capradossi in defense, and the duo manned the backline as if they had been playing together for ages.
The midfield duo of Captain Khalid Aucho and Kenneth Semakula provided the calmness that Uganda needed to see off Mozambique.
The Uganda Cranes are now second with 12 points behind Algeria, who lead the group with 18 points.
Uganda will aim to win on Monday against Somalia to keep their hopes for 2026 World Cup qualification alive.
